The Slocum Sports Network was created at the start of 2017, covering high school and collegiate athletics within the greater Kalamazoo and Battle Creek areas. The live broadcasts cover a broad range of sports, including football, basketball, hockey, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, and lacrosse.
College broadcasts have included the Western Michigan University Stallions hockey club (ACHA), Kalamazoo College (NCAA D3), Kalamazoo Valley Community College (NJCAA) and Kellogg Community College (NJCAA). High school broadcasts have featured schools from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SAC), the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference (SMAC), the Wolverine Conference, the Interstate 8 Conference, the Berrien-Cass-St. Joseph (BCS) Conference, the Southwest 10 Conference, and the Southwest Michigan High School Hockey League (SWMHSHL).
ABOUT JORDAN SLOCUM:
Play-by-play is my passion and this project allows me to pursue that passion, while serving communities with high-quality content. I’ve been involved with sports broadcasting in some capacity for a decade and love being able to tell the stories of each game, each team, each player, each coach, and each community.
I grew up in the small northern Indiana town of Culver, then finished high school in Michigan at Big Rapids. I attained a Bachelor’s in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts from Central Michigan University, then spent the next five years working in the radio industry. The most notable stop was nearly three years as the Sports Director for KUTT-FM radio in Fairbury, Nebraska, which was highlighted by covering Doane College (NAIA) football.
After stays in Nebraska, Florida, Montana, and Missouri, I left the industry at the end of 2016 to return closer to friends and family, and to focus on the one part of the industry I had a passion for; sports play-by-play. I currently do third-shift work to pay the bills, which leaves open the time frame needed to scratch the strong play-by-play itch.
