Conner Lund (#14) scored both Grand Haven goals
The 11th-ranked Grand Haven Buccaneers became the first team to score multiple goals this season against 2nd-ranked Portage Central Saturday. Grand Haven made the trip to Portage and came away with a 2-0 victory.
Both goals came in the second half from senior forward Conner Lund, giving him 15 on the season. The first came in the 51st minute with the second in the 64th minute. Jake Thayer and Filiberto Juarez combined for the shutout in goal, matching their performance from last season’s 3-0 Buc win.
Grand Haven improves to 9-3-2 overall and Portage Central falls to 11-2-3. The Mustangs host Battle Creek Central Tuesday in their final match before the SMAC tournament. The Buccaneers travel to West Ottawa, who they played to a 1-1 draw in early September.
