The Schoolcraft Eagles downed the Hackett Catholic Irish Tuesday at Hackett, 25-11, 25-9, 25-12. Despite the lopsided final, the first set was back-and-forth for the first 10 points on both sides. An injury to Hackett senior Carolyn Brown, followed by numerous aces from Andelyn Simkins and Paige Gebben, allowed Schoolcraft to dominate the rest of the first.
Schoolcraft controlled the entire second set. The Irish had a brief 7-6 lead in the third set, but again, the fourth-ranked Eagles found their rhythm. Unofficially, Simkins and Gebben each had nine kills. Delaney Hewitt topped Hackett with five.
Schoolcraft moves to 13-7-2 overall and 2-0 in SAC Valley play. They face another Valley foe, Constantine, at home next Tuesday. Hackett falls to 0-2 in the Valley and 5-12 overall. They return to action Wednesday for a triangular with Bridgman and Comstock.
