Listen live online Monday evening at 6:45 p.m. on the Slocum Sports Network to high school boys soccer with the Hackett Catholic Irish hosting the Kalamazoo Christian Comets. It is their first meeting of the fall, renewing a rivalry which has produced numerous tight matches in both boys and girls soccer in recent years.
Hackett remains unbeaten at 5-0-2 on the season. Their last match was a 3-3 draw Thursday against 2016 SAC champion Hartford. The other draw came in their opener 0-0 against defending Division 2 state champion Mattawan. The Irish beat Division 3 state champ Grand Rapids Central Catholic 2-1 in August and started SAC play with a 9-1 whooping of Lawton last week.
Kalamazoo Christian is 4-4-1 on the season, falling 4-2 to Paw Paw in their most recent match. They’re 2-0 in SAC play on 6-1 victories over Lawton and Saugatuck. They also won a non-league contest 2-1 over Fennville in August, topping a team that beat them and finished a spot of ahead of them in 2016.
Hackett have won their listed meetings with Kalamazoo Christian back through 2013, although many have been tight. The Irish won at K-Christian 4-3 in their 2016 regular season meeting, then downed the Comets 4-0 in their district final duel.
