Portage Northern earned a road sweep over Loy Norrix Wednesday, defeating the Knights 25-19, 25-19, 25-17. The Huskies led the entire way in the first set. Loy Norrix had a brief lead at the start of the second and kept it tight, but the Huskies pulled away late. Early in the third, multiple aces from libero Ellie Antor built up an insurmountable lead.
Unofficially, Makyala Smith led Portage Northern with nine kills. Emily Lewis had eight, including the match-clinching strike. Leah Dunham had five kills for Loy Norrix.
The Huskies move to 2-4 on the season and return to action at Kalamazoo Central next Wednesday. The Knights drop to 1-4 and host the Loy Norrix Invite on Saturday. Listen back to Wednesday’s match below:
