The Marshall Redhawks downed the Charlotte Orioles 4-1 Tuesday in a rematch from last season’s district finals. Honorable mention All-State forward Jeremy Luciani scored three of his team’s goals, including the first two of the contest. The junior put in the game’s first score midway through the first half, then struck again with 5:12 remaining. Three minutes later, sophomore forward Brett Swaton gave Marshall a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
88 seconds into the second half, the Orioles scored their lone goal off the foot of Jesus Ochoa. Marshall limited further opportunities from there and iced things with Luciani’s third goal in the 70th minute. That puts him at five goals already through three games.
Marshall moves to 3-0 on the young season and returns to action Thursday at home against Grand Ledge. Charlotte sits at 0-2 and faces Parma Western at home Thursday.
