Listen live Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on the Slocum Sports Network to high school boys soccer with the Marshall Redhawks hosting the Charlotte Orioles. Marshall ended Charlotte’s 2016 season with a 3-1 victory in their district final at Charlotte. The Redhawks, who went 17-4-2 overall, were eliminated in the regional semifinal by eventual Division 2 champion Mattawan. The Orioles finished 13-6.
Marshall graduated All-State Second Team midfielder Cody Clapper as well as honorable mention defender Jeremy Quick, but do return a honorable mention selection in junior forward Jeremy Luciani. Charlotte didn’t have any All-State selections, but put together a strong season as an independent.
The Orioles had a brief two-season tenure (2014-15, 15-16) in the Interstate 8 Conference along with Marshall, but have returned to their original home in the Capital Area Activities Conference for 2017-18. As conference foes, Marshall beat Charlotte in all four of their meetings, including a 4-2 win in the 2014 district tournament.
Listen to Tuesday’s game live on the Slocum Sports Network from Marshall High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
