These teams met two weeks ago in Benton Harbor with the Cougars winning two tight contests, 5-3 and 4-0. In the first game, Kayli Bowen led Kalamazoo Valley with a home run and double and four RBI. In the second game, Maggie Mullen’s pitching kept Lake Michigan off the board.
The Cougars sit at 21-6 overall and are second in the MCCAA Western Conference at 15-3, only behind Lansing (19-1). Kalamazoo Valley is on a six-game win streak with doubleheader sweeps of Jackson, Ancilla, and Grand Rapids.
The Red Hawks sit in sixth in the Western Conference at 9-11 with an overall mark at 10-14. They’re on a two-game win streak, having beaten Kellogg in a doubleheader on Saturday.
