Listen live Tuesday afternoon on the Slocum Sports Network as the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Cougars (10-3) host the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks (13-6) in softball. Game one is scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch with game two to follow after. Assuming the weather and field conditions permit it, it will be the home opener for KVCC.
Both teams are contenders for the top spot in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s (MCCAA) Western Conference. The Cougars are 4-0 in MCCAA play, with sweeps at Grand Rapids and at Lake Michigan. Kalamazoo Valley and Lansing both are at the top and unbeaten in MCCAA play with Lansing at 6-0. Muskegon is 6-2 in conference play with split doubleheaders against Jackson and Kellogg, along with sweeps of Ancilla and Glen Oaks. Both doubleheaders last season between the Cougars and Jayhawks were split.
